Default 1974 Cadillac Eldorado

Traded the other day for my truck. It's fun so far, the tranny seems to be slipping/losing fluid.

80k miles, 2door, red leather interior... The 500ci engine which is just an awesome thing that I really love, even with the gas mileage.

First thing I want to do is find a new vinyl top, OR, take it off and paint the body underneath to match. I can find NO pictures of others who have done this with the cars, so I have no idea what it looks like under there or if it would flow well. I'm not a particular fan of it, though, and think bare steel would look more muscle car ish.

Some rust spots so we'll see how that goes.

I want to do it flat black. I think I will in the next couple months.

Starts like a charm, engine sounds great - I'm looking at a $30 glasspack muffler to maybe give it a bit more rumble and fix the exhaust leak/hole in the pipe leading into the muffler.

My daughter loves it. Radio doesn't work. Everything else seems to. Love the motor, whatever happens to the car, I think the 500 is staying with me. 8-)

I think it's kind've an ugly car (but I like odd, ugly cars), but it has been cool already getting compliments. I didn't expect it!

I started a fan page, I'm going to do pictures and stuff of the engine work, mods, etc etc I do - so if anyone wants to see some pictures or follow along, lend some help and spread the love on these Cadillacs and the 500, come visit!

Any thoughts/comments/suggestions ANYTHING really appreciated! I'm a 31yo single Dad, combat veteran of Afghanistan who is going back to school after being blown up in said sandbox, and my daughter loves cruising in this thing - I come from a long line of Mustangs, and for the past four years of my daughter's life, some pretty BLEH sedans. So this is new.

Looks like a pretty nice car but it could do without the bug catcher. The rear window has a molding under the vinyl top but the side windows are a bit harder to get to look right.

I only saw one other Eldorado without the vinyl top, see picture attached. I think they look much better this way.

Where are you located?

I'm in Albany/Corvallis area, up to Salem all the time, doesn't look like you're that far though!

Thanks for the pic!
