Default 1937 Lasalle

I figured since Lasalle was part of the Cadillac division I would stay with a Cadillac engine. The '75 500 and th400 slipped right in with no cutting. Much thanks to Marty at MTS for the help with my '68 472 that is now a 500 that will replace the stock engine that is now in the car.

That's a cool old car! I remember those when I was a kid. (yeah, I'm old as dirt) That had a flat head originally didn't it. Don't remember the size, my '41 Cad was a 346.

It had a 322 flathead. The engine weighed more than the engine and transmission that I put in there.

The old iron case transmission was probably close to the weight of a 500.

Default Lasalle's rule

I have a 1935 Lasalle that I am putting a 500/turbo 400 in. It is a 2 door sedan. I love the look of these Art Deco caddy's. I bought it out California, it is in pretty good shape for a 76 year old lady. Needs paint, and interior, but not wrecked or rusty. I have put 4 wheel disc. Pwr. brakes. Pwr rack and pinion steering. Posi-trac rear. Have the engine apart and at the machine shop. Have ordered all the performance parts from MTS. Marty has been a very big help!!!!

Default Out with old, in with the new

Finally ready to start going together. Now all the body work so I can remind myself why I quit my job at the body shop 30 years ago. It hasn't gotten any easier but the sheetmetal is fairly straight, just 70 years of rust to contend with.

Default Looks like it will fit

Mocked up the front end and it looks like everything will clear the hood. Glad I'm not going to have to cut a hole in the middle to the gull-wing hood hinge. Now if I could remember how to resize the pictures.

Default Just couldn't help myself

The body work was getting to be a drag so I had to take it around the block. Found out I don't have near enough rear tires, that Caddy engine will lite them off way to easy. Even without the Torson 3rd member it still spins both tires about equal. Way too much fun!
