I was wondering if anyone has seen this swap done or has any pics. I already installed a stock 500 in my 76 chevy ½ ton and I love it. My camaro would get a warmed over 500 if I know it will fit. I am concerned with upper A arm/exhaust clearance. Any help would be great!

I've got some photos of my cad motor in my 68 camaro. Tight fit, requires a little trimming of material off of upper a-arms to get headers to clear. You will also need to get a manual steering box from flaming river (weighs about 12 Lbs, and is very small, and is a fstr ratio box) , and the fast ratio steering contol arms, these give about 2 turns lock to lock o the steering. The only problem i had was the steering linkage would hit the oil pan when wheels were cranked all the way left/right. I've got photos of my install, if you want copies pm me your personal email and I'll send you pics. I still have the headers and my fast ratio steering arms and the th400 transmission crossmember, hung on to them in case I bought another camaro. I'm currently trying to figure out how to put my cad motor into a 94 camaro.
With clean 1st. gen Camaro's being harder to find. I think I would be hesitant to swap a non Chevy engine in there.
Same with early Mustangs, Chevelles, etc.
At some point these Classics really need to be preserved.
There are so many less valuable/more abundant cars out there to cut up. Like the Fox body Fords that Caddy engines swap into real easy & have a huge aftermarket for parts.

Trust me, If I have to do any "cutting", the motor is not going in there. I don't antisipate any permanent fabrication. I love to fabricate stuff, but I still make them "bolt on" so I can always return back to normal. My motor mounts are based off of the SBC base so I can bolt them to the frame.
My truck went pretty smooth, I used a short shaft TH400, put in the stock location, fabbed my own mounts, etc. You can PM me and I can give you as many details as you want. I am very pleased with the stock power output of my 500. This is the main reason I want to put one in my camaro.
